Blood Doctrine....JWs dropped off a video tape and DVD for my wife.......

i had posted last monday about having asked my wife questions on the blood doctrine, the question i asked her is if i need to get someone to be my medical power of attorney.

i asked her if a spouse of an unbelieving mate would authorize a blood transfusion.....no answer.

i also asked if she realized that the jws now allow fractions as a matter of conscience.....no answer, but in both cases she said she is just studying and needs to learn more.

You need to (gently) help her to see how the JWs have been completely deceptive when it comes to showing survival rates and problems associated with insisting on bloodless options. Have a look at Gladring's recent post to see how they are still misrepresenting this even in a very recent Awake! in the Watching the World.

If everything was how those videos/dvd made it seem, then why would anyone accept blood? Makes no sense. So prepare a little info that you can show your wife. Its easy enough to find that stuff online.

Letting go of the blood issue was a BIG deal for me as I was convinced bloodless was the best way to go (excuse the pun!) but now I'm prepared to do whatever needs doing to save a life, my own or someone elses. Life is too precious to do anything less.

The people your wife is studying with have probably already warned her to expect persecution and so that's likely how she views it when you say anything anti-witness. That's why I'm saying to you to procede gently and not get her defenses up.

been in the troof for 30yrs, pionered for 15yrs, became servant and did mts and had loadsa friends.

faded and now no witness will talk to me.

i was a crap friend so deserve itmy friends were not real friendsthe religion is to blamenon of the abovecheers.

Most of us here can really relate to what you're saying.

You can try to figure out the reasons but you probably already know. I'll bet you weren't a bad friend and that your friends aren't bad people. They are merely doing what they are being told is the right thing to do and don't yet have the ability to think for themselves about whether what they are doing is good or bad.

Regardless of why, it is what it is and you probably won't have a great deal of success in changing them. So move on and find ways of making new friends. Go to a night class or join some hobby group that interests you. Do you have kids? Or pets even? They can be a good way of meeting people and perhaps forging a friendship or two.

We've met up with and befriended a few people from this list and that was a big help during a period of time when it was easy to feel quite lonely.

What prompts one to become a Jehovah's Witness?

i know there are many here that were born into the religion and there are those who have family that were or are involved and that usually sparks an interest.. what about those who become interested by their campaining?

what influenced others here to become a jehovah's witness?.

I was raised in but I know my mother converted because she wanted to learn more about her Bible and get meaning from reading it.
I recently asked her how much time she spends reading it nowadays, not counting the assigned weekly Bible reading etc for the meetings. She said that by the time she reads all her magazines, the new releases, the year book and does her meeting prep, she doesn't have any time left to read her Bible.

Why does it bother me so much?

most things that people believe that are out there and don't have much evidence to support their believe, like the reptilian conspiracy, does not bother me has much as people believing that the bible is literal word of god.

i can understand that someone would believe it because of the lack of knowledge like me before, once i learned more about out it i realized that it was not the word of god, i was duped.

if someone after learning all this information and still believes it's the literal word of god it drives me nuts, i just don't know why it bothers me so much.

It could be coz that belief has such an impact on their lives and thus the lives of those around them. It can turn the most naturally tolerant and laid back of people into hypersensitive judgemental Nazis! Certainly true in my case but I'm almost cured!
